Frequently Asked Questions:
Are you a Financial Expert?
No, my background is in Commercial Real Estate Appraisal; however, I grew around a number of familiy members that are Financial Professionals and I caught the Finance Bug at an early age. As a result, I have been actively involved in personal investment strategy since the mid 1990’s.
Are you trying to sell someting?
No, I am not selling financial advice or financial products. This website started as a hobby back when I was in University and I began written again for fun in the summer of 2009. The advertisements on the site are simply offset the costs I endure for running the site. Further, I am in complete control of the postings to this site and do not accept any favors for making posts. Unlike many investment analysts that may have conflicts of interest due to their firm having business arrangements with many companies they produce reports on, I am completely independent and simply provide my actual opinion.
Do you earn money from this website?
Yes, some. The money earned from this site definitely does not replace my day job; however, it does carry itself. Although, if I assumed any cost for the labor required than this site would have a negative return. The site is a labor of love and all operating revenues in excess of my expenses end up back in the site.
Why do you write this blog?
Discussing the financial markets has always been an easy way to start conversations with many friends and family members. Some friends seemed very interested in my opinions about investment and began learning the ways of the stock markets. I feel like if I can inspire them to take charge of their finances, then maybe I can help others that haven’t been as fortunate to discover the benefits to financial planning. It’s not like investment is everyone’s cup of tea so if I can help in any way I’m glad.
Why are you so interested in Money Matters?
It’s the great quest for financial independence. Why not become comfortable with one aspect of your life with as little sacrifice as possible so you can focus on what truly matters.
I saw these questions on Canadian Capitalist and though every financial blogger should come clean for their audience.
